Following Christ’s command to “give them something to eat” (Matthew 14:16), the Food Bank ministry provides nutritious food to soup kitchens and food pantries that work with individuals and families experiencing hunger. Through the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, we work to ensure no one in our community goes without basic nourishment. This ministry reflects Catholic Social Teaching by upholding the dignity of the human person and caring for those most in need, serving both body and spirit.
Catholic Charities of South Mississippi's Food Bank distributes government commodities, Feeding America products, and other goods and food items to soup kitchens and food pantries throughout an eight-county service area.
Counties served through this program include Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, George, Greene, Perry
Stone, and Pearl River.
If you know someone who needs food assistance or are interested in opening a food pantry, please call 228-822-0836.
Churches and other non-profit entities may qualify to open a food pantry at their location to meet the needs of their hungry neighbors. Food pantries may apply to distribute donated food items or to also distribute USDA Commodities.
