Community outreach

Rooted in the Gospel call to love our neighbor (Mark 12:31), the Community Outreach Program meets individuals and families where they are, offering guidance, referrals, and compassionate support. Through presence, listening, and service, we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ in our communities. We encounter each person with respect and mercy, recognizing Christ in those we serve and working to build stronger, healthier families across South Mississippi.

The Community Outreach Program provides a variety of services to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship throughout our Diocesan service area. All services are provided through comprehensive case management. We do not provide immediate or emergency financial assistance, and any financial assistance is dependent upon the availability of funding.

Our goal is not only to help individuals during times of need, but also to help reduce future financial stress through guidance, planning, and support. The case management process is a partnership that requires active participation from both our agency and the individual seeking services.

All clients participate in case management, complete a household budget, and have their needs reviewed by a committee to determine eligibility for financial assistance when funding is available. To ensure we have a complete understanding of each individual’s situation and can provide the most effective support, clients are asked to provide identification, proof of all income, documentation of financial obligations, verification of the event or circumstance that caused the financial shortfall, and, when applicable, proof of active job search or progress toward goals established during previous visits.

Honoring the sacredness of all life (Jeremiah 1:5), the Infant and Maternity Program provides essential baby supplies to families in need, helping ensure children have safe and healthy beginnings. By supporting parents with diapers, formula, clothing, and safety items, we strengthen families and affirm the God-given dignity of every child. This ministry reflects our commitment to protecting life and supporting families as the foundation of our community.

Services are available by appointment only. Confidential pregnancy testing and options counseling is also available Monday-Thursday from 9am-2pm.

Honrando la santidad de la vida (Jeremías 1:5), el Programa de Bebés y Maternidad proporciona suministros esenciales para bebés a familias necesitadas, ayudando a garantizar que los niños tengan un comienzo seguro y saludable. Al apoyar a los padres con pañales, fórmula, ropa y artículos de seguridad, fortalecemos a las familias y afirmamos la dignidad divina de cada niño. Este ministerio refleja nuestro compromiso de proteger la vida y apoyar a las familias como el cimiento de nuestra comunidad.

Los servicios están disponibles solo con cita previa. También ofrecemos pruebas de embarazo confidenciales y asesoramiento sobre opciones de lunes a jueves de 9:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.

Guided by the truth that we are one body in Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12), Translation Services help remove language barriers so all individuals can access critical services with dignity and understanding. By providing culturally respectful translations, we live out our call to welcome the stranger (Matthew 25:35) and ensure all members of our community are seen, heard, and valued.  

Translations of birth certificates and marriage licenses are available to help individuals obtain meaningful work to support their families.  

Translations are $30 per document and may take up to two weeks to complete.  Translations are accepted at the Catholic Charities office located at 1450 North Street, Gulfport and are accepted on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 9am and 2pm.

Guiados por la verdad de que somos un solo cuerpo en Cristo (1 Corintios 12:12), los Servicios de Traducción ayudan a eliminar las barreras lingüísticas para que todas las personas puedan acceder a servicios esenciales con dignidad y comprensión. Al ofrecer traducciones con respeto cultural, cumplimos nuestro llamado a acoger al extranjero (Mateo 25:35) y garantizamos que todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad sean vistos, escuchados y valorados.

Disponemos de traducciones de actas de nacimiento y licencias de matrimonio para ayudar a las personas a obtener un trabajo digno que les permita mantener a sus familias.

Las traducciones tienen un costo de $30 por documento y pueden tardar hasta dos semanas en completarse. Se aceptan traducciones en la oficina de Caridades Católicas, ubicada en 1450 North Street, Gulfport, los martes y miércoles de 9:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m.
